BIG HEARTS COMMUNITY TRUST

Big Hearts Community Trust (Big Hearts) is the official charity of Heart of Midlothian FC and is a charity for families, supporting all generations within the communities we serve by leading, coordinating and facilitating meaningful activities where need is identified. As part of the “Hearts Family”, working closely with the club and the Foundation of Hearts, they aim to use the power of the club’s crest to make a meaningful difference to the lives of families and individuals who need their help most.

Most relevant is their T.E.A.M. (Together Equality Achieves More) Project which is an inclusive after school club designed to engage local young people from a range of cultural backgrounds who have settled in Edinburgh. This project, ran in partnership with Edinburgh organisation Multicultural Family Base (MCFB) has been successful in achieving positive outcomes for young people, including new friendships, increased physical activity and social connections.

This is a project they established in response to the local need in their area, where there is a much higher percentage of residents who are not white – Scottish. Therefore, they have established relationships and skills in managing projects aiming to identify those in need of support who do not identify as being from Scotland and ensuring they can access support.
